Neighbours Recount Baffling Experience on Boy Found in Between Wall in Ondo

People around the neighbourhood in Ondo State where a little boy was reported to have been trapped for days have opened up on the torrid experience.

Aduragbemi, trapped in-between the walls
Last Friday, December 9, 2016, people across the country and beyond were alerted  (about 10 inches apart) in the Oduduwa Area, New Town in Ondo Kingdom, Ondo State.
When the incident happened, there was a barrage of questions on the minds of people who came across it, as to how he entered such a narrow space, who he was; where he came from; was he a normal human being or a demon; could he also be a witch that fell from the sky, and many of such questions.
Well, it’s been eight days since he was rescued and normalcy has since returned to the area, but the tortuous experience the boy subjected the occupants of the house to may not go away quickly.
“We were already looking for another accommodation, because it was strange for human voice to be coming out of a fence wall for three days; non-stop, throughout the day and at night,” one of the residents, who identified herself simply as Becky, said.
When a correspondent visited the premises on Akinyosoye Street on Wednesday, the tenants looked relieved, given the nightmares they said they had for the three days the boy spent in-between the wall of their fence and that of the adjoining property. They said they were already thinking a ghost had arrived in their community as the situation was completely strange to them.
She said, “We never knew anyone was there. So, when the noise refused to stop and was unbearable, I told my friends to start looking for accommodation for me because it was becoming scary that we would be hearing a strange voice from in-between walls. Could it be a ghost, I once asked myself. It has never happened before and I don’t think I would forget the experience of those three days.

“Initially, we laughed when the person was talking incoherently, because he was fond of repeating anything people around said. We, in our compound, thought the voice was from the shops on the other side, so we confronted them to know who was doing that, but they said they also thought it was from our compound, or maybe we had a visitor.

“That was when we sensed trouble. We also realised that in the night when the shops would have closed, the voice persisted and the person was saying meaningless things, like ‘my name is Judas Iscariot; I’m Jesus; I was the one who killed Jesus, bring your garri (cassava flakes), etc. It became unbearable and I couldn’t wait to run away. We thought we were being haunted by some ghosts, because it was very strange.”
She recalled that there were times they couldn’t sleep in the night and they had to bring out their seats in the midnight to sit outside. “It was scary to remain indoors, with the kind of things he was saying at that time of the night, so, sometimes we all came out to sit down outside; it felt safer,” she added.
However, their troubles came to an end that Friday afternoon when the boy’s noise became unbearable and they alerted the police, since the owner of the house could not be reached. With the help of neighbours and passersby, they broke the wall and there he was, naked and looking very emaciated. He was taken to the police station and moments later, his mother, arrived at the scene and she was directed to the police.
“We learnt the boy had mental issues, because people who knew him confirmed that he was fond of going to hide himself and doing strange things,” Becky added.
She explained that on Wednesday, one of their neighbours had said she saw the boy running towards their house naked, around 11pm, and that even though it remained uncertain how exactly the boy got in-between the walls, he apparently climbed their fence and fell inside that night, more so that they started hearing the voice from that Wednesday night.
Findings by Saturday Punch revealed that the boy, an Indian hemp smoker, had been undergoing treatment for mental illness since the past three years. The place where he was found is some distance from where his mother lived. He was then taken to a church, and after some efforts, the head of the church called his mother to come and take him away.
When a correspondent visited the head of the church, Prophetess Dorcas Adebayo, she admitted to being the one taking care of the boy but that she had to release him having told the mother what she needed to know about the cause of the boy’s problem.
“That incident happened three days after I discharged him from here and I learnt she took him to another place,” she added.
Meanwhile, the house where the boy’s mother lived at 11, Okegboyi Street, was locked when a correspondent visited, and according to neighbours, their whereabouts remained unknown.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, said the mother of the boy had been advised to take him for immediate medical care “as he looked so emaciated.”

Good News? NYSC May Soon Be Voluntary – Director-General Of NYSC

President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged
that his administration will take all
necessary actions to maintain and improve
the National Youth Service Corps scheme as
a functional vehicle for the promotion of
national unity and integration.
Mr. Buhari gave the assurance after
receiving briefing from officials of the
Federal Ministry of Youth Development, led
by the Permanent Secretary, Rabi Jimeta.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of NYSC,
Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, also told the
President that there are plans to make the
scheme voluntary so as to reduce the corps
population and sustain it.
The president affirmed his confidence and
trust in the scheme, saying that the
objective for which the scheme was
established in 1973 was still very relevant
for national development.
He said, “I firmly believe in NYSC and I
think it should remain a national
programme to promote integration.
“Whenever I go home to Daura, I look out
for corps members from Lagos, Aba and
other parts of the country.
“I am always thrilled to learn that except
for the NYSC, some of them have never left
their states of origin to visit other cities in
the country.”
Ms. Jimeta had informed the president that
the increasing number of NYSC members
was a challenge to the scheme due to
dwindling revenue from the national
budget to cater for their needs.
She also told the president that the annual
enrollment of corps participants had
increased from 2,364 at inception in 1974
to 229,016 in 2014.
She added that “given the increasing
number of tertiary institutions, our
projection is that the number of
participants may rise to 300,000 by year
2020″.

At Last OPEN LETTER TO ALL MAPAITES

From:
ABIODUN SAMUEL ADEGBENGA (ASEPO).
THE MAPOLY SUG WELFARE DIRECTOR
Greatest Nigerian Students, my mission is to polish the
image and not to tarnish the image of MAPOLY.
For Better Mapoly, Easy Mapoly, and Decent Mapoly,
without fear or favour of anybody or group, I urge the School
Management to make the Students Union less attractive for
it to be effective because, the system had been corrupted by
some EX-MAPOLY STUDENTS. (Almost 17 Million Naira as
SUG IGR).
I appreciate all the concerned and good students of Mapoly
for the UNITED FREEDOM STRUGGLE.
I want everyone to know that there is no gain in tarnishing
anyone's image / name because it won't help in future. I will
urge all Mapaites to remember the slogan of our president
while he was campaigning, which states thus; 'SALUS
POPULI, SUPRIMA LEX' (in an unjust society, silence is a
crime).
There is nothing bad in saying the bitter truth, we are
making the history not by violence but by pen and
consultation.
Not yet now!
I will surely respond to their ALI GOES TO SCHOOL negative
formulated write-ups (stories) through the office of the
social director, by the JOBLESS, SENSELESS, USELESS,
HOPELESS, IRRESPONSIBLE and the senior 'COME AND
RAID' EX-MAPOLY STUDENTS, who hang around in the
name of their UNAUTHORISED GROUPS that turned
MAPOLY STUDENTS UNION BODY into BUSINESS CENTRE,
(The SUG cabals / SMS Alert contractors) in the name of
what they all call FORUM.
One reply out of your eight foolish write-ups is this, I am not
on LOAN and NOTHING to 'REFUND'. Your propaganda and
brainwashing have failed because, MAPAITES are not fools.
NOTE:
Another truth about our SUG SMS Campus Alerts money is
that, the contract is not operated by the School
Management, but management can only approve the SUG
Excos' choice and selected contractor, but the truth is that,
the money had been shared by the SUG Cabals in the name
of FORUM and CONTRACT. This is what they called 'Human
Errors' instead of 'HUMAN CORRUPTION ERROR', over their
failed service delivery to all Mapaites.
Do not force me to talk on Social Media, we all know the
truth and the secretes behind. If I should let it out, you will
all be STONED TO DEATH by fellow Mapaites. I have no
stories to TELL but, I have facts and evidences to TENDER
which will lead you to serious troubles.
I respect and salute all the Big Brothers ON / OFF the
CAMPUS, I am doing all these for the sake and freedom of
all Mapaites from the SUG CABALS / godfathers in the
name of FORUM. Thanks you all.
The following SUG CABAL's names had been submitted to
the right security authorities, and declared to be arrested for
security reasons.
They will surely pay for it if anything happen to me in the
course of this UNITED FREEDOM STRUGGLE. Their (nick)
names are popularly known as; COMPONENT, MELODY, TJ
BOKO-HARAM, CAPELLO, and OTHERS, alongside some
MAPOLY STAFF.

Haa ! Naira Cr @shes Further to 240 against One Dollar

Our naira h!t another new record low of 241 against the
dollar at the parallel market on Monday as the Central
Bank of Nigeria’s restrictions on foreign exchange sale
fuelled unofficial trade in dollars.
The b@n on importers from accessing the Nigerian
foreign exchange markets for the importation of 41
items had led to the volatility of the naira-dollar
exchange rate at the black market.
Since June 23 when the new forex rule became
operational, the naira has fallen by 10.5 per cent from
218 to 241 against the greenback. Foreign exchange
dealers said the artificial scarcity of the United States
currency still pervaded the market, Reuters reported..
The new forex rule had led to huge demand at the
parallel market, causing dealers to hoard the dollar in
anticipation of further fall in the naira
Economic analysts had said the CBN needed to devalue
the naira to allow the local currency achieve an
equilibrium price against the dollar.
CBN however said it would not be focusing on the
thinly-traded parallel market when determining the
exchange rate, adding that people preferred to use the
unofficial market for undocumented transactions.
